Police appealing for witnesses after teenager dies in Maghull accident driving
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager died in hospital after a car crash in Maghull on Tuesday.
Merseyside Police officers had sighted the blue Mini and attempted to stop the car. It later crashed into a red Hyundai Accent.
Police say they were not pursuing the Mini at the time.
Merseyside Police has referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The 17-year-old boy was taken to Aintree Hospital after the accident in Foxhouse Lane, at around 5.20pm.
Another 17-year-old boy is believed to have non life-threatening injuries.
They are both believed to be from the Kirkby area.
The driver and front seat passenger of the Mini ran away from the scene.
A 51-year old-woman, who was driving the Hyundai, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Anyone who saw the collision or has any information is asked to call police on 0151-777-5771 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
